For those of you new to Go-4 s I highly recommend adding an airbag to the front forks. There's a number of variations out there. I think one key item is don't inflate them so high that you don't get any fork movement. You can end up bending the front fender if you've attached to it.
I've had one in mine for two years now and haven't had any issues with bending or distortion of the fender. I only run about 8 psi in mine. That gives a good amount of cushion and allows the forks to work without bottoming out over big bumps.
I always wanted to do that with my 05, but now im in a 2014 and the whole fork assembly has changed. For the most part they were unchaged from the early 90s until mid 2000s...
I'm glad you mentioned that. How do you like the new front fork design over the older? I've heard some users don't care for it.
All the NYC Interceptors IV, are fitted with Westward factory installed steering damper/stabilizers.
@donh I don't care for it, but it is good after a cleaning and lube job. It's actually super smooth and it may make the steering a little more sensitive, but after acclimating to it I am growing quite fond if the new characteristics vs the old fork design. Servicing the shocks is definitely much easier now - you don't have to buy a fork rebuild kit and spend hours going through that mess. just replace 2 gas pistons and youre back on the road in 20 minutes.
Sounds much nicer. I like the stabilizer option too. That would be nice on long trips.
@donh agree, I'm going to install a stabilizer here at some point soon. I haven't even started looking at my options yet but for sure will post a picture soon.
